As a Derbyshire lad myself, I can't help noticing mention of Sheffield.
Could I merely point out the proclusion of Yorkshire types from Ovine love fests is that sheep have better taste

You should have just responded that he was an average driver at absolute best. A good driver wouldn't have been in the position to be having the conversation with you! (I presume)
