Race Face & Shimano BB bearing compatability

Is there compatability between the bearings on the Race Face X-type external bearing BB and the Shimano equivalent?

Yes. There are various standards for external bottom brackets, the one that matters being Shimano Hollow Tech II, which is compatible with FSA Mega Exo and Race Face (Chris King and Hope make superior bottom brackets for this system).

The similar-looking Truvativ/SRAM/Bontrager GXP system is incompatible - let alone Campag. Hope make adaptors for using GXP cranks with Hollowtech II b/b cups, and the same cup installation/removal tool works on both, and on Campag too.

Thanks Nick, had seen some Race Face cranks on another forum but turned out they didn't include chainrings so not the bargain they first seemed.
