I have a Raleigh Record Ace. It was built in 1980- same as one in thumbnail above posted by RecordAceFromNew. It was that drab green colour but has now been resprayed. It takes 700c wheels with Weinmann 605 sidepull brakes. Compared to other bikes I own- an aluminium one and a carbon fibre one it is NOT a fast bike but is adequate for commuting etc.
It has had a few years laid up but has been used on and off for nearly 30 years. The tubing is 531. I also have a handbuilt roadbike made from 531 Professional tubing-the difference in weight and responsiveness is noticeable.

Regarding the frame number "WG 2001138"

"W" indicates it was built in the Worksop factory.
"G" relates to the fortnight in which it was built, i.e G = 7th fortnight of the year, i.e end of March beginning of April.
"2" is the year, i.e 72, 82, 92.

You should be able to work out the correct decade from a combination of the colour scheme, geometry, lug design etc.

This is according to Sheldon...

Hope this helps!
