I have just bought a1978 Raleigh TI frame. I bought it because it is a lightweight frame and it is a 25" size.
I want to fit it out as a comfortable lightweight road bike for touring. I have no interest in keeping it original. I want to fit improved parts but I have 2 questions:-
1. I am looking for a drop handlebar. I have a Ritchey WCS triple butted TRX50 drop handlebar on my Peugeot 531 Pro bike which I particularly like because it is so wide and comfortable for long rides. Has anyone any suggestions for a similarly wide drop handlebar to the Ritchey's so I can widen my search?
2. I need a set of brake calipers. My idea of fitting a set of Shimano 105 calipers which I have won't work as they will not reach the 700 wheels I intend to fit. Nor will my Weimann 600s fit. Has anyone got any suggestions for a longer reach caliper of this type? I suspect the Weimann 750s will do it but any other ideas gratefully welcomed.

Hi WIndhover,
I like the sound of your frame.
In terms of the brakes, Tektro do some nice classic looking long reach dual pivot calipers. I bought some R737's recently for an early 80's frame and they look great. Drop is 47-57mm. The finish is really nice.
Check their website for other options.
Cheers,
Ali

Sorry no helpful suggestions, looks like a really nice project. I like the look of your workshop/garage . I’m very impressed you’re one of those very rare people who still have room for a car in there .
