Raleigh Twenty

Just won a Twenty on the 'Bay
Had a Stowaway version in the Family back in the day
Plan was to get one and do it up for Dad for Fathers Day

But when I collect it may keep for myself then look out for another to do for him maybe even get a Stowaway as that was the one we had.

Still will be something to keep me occupied.....till the next bike comes along.

Well took the Twenty over to my Dad's this afternoon he was well chuffed with it, Like a Kid at Christmas....
So it's of to Hampshire tomorrow to pick up my Triumph Traffic Master (a Twenty Clone).... so I can be like a kid at Christmas...Got things planned for this one.

Hypothetically speaking ... if you were to go and collect a Raleigh 20 that has been stored outside for a number of years and attempt to ride it 25 miles home, what parts would you take with you?

I've already scored one on ebay, which looks to be in great condition which I hope to pedal home and make a video about. I suspect I'll be able to ride that one home without issue.

But there is a second one I'm aware of, which needs tyres, tubes, a chain, a back brake (missing entirely), a shifter (also missing) and possibly much more. If the first video is successful, I might go back for the second. There's quite some rust in the rear chain stays, so it might be a non-starter.

As well as the above, I'm thinking spare spokes, brake and gear cables, and loose bearings in the appropriate sizes.

I'd be filming the whole thing, so getting the bike in good enough shape to go and dealing with any mishaps along the way would all be part of the adventure. Worst case scenario, 25 miles is 8 to 9 hours at walking pace!
