From spending most of her life in the back of a shipping container to how she looks today, I'm quite please with the end result. Anyone who can give me pointers as to how much to sell for I'd be greatfull. I'm thinking £150

That's a difficult one, these models which were made for the yoof market so not as sought after as the higher end stuff with 501 or 531.
There's an unrestored one on the evil bay for £100 or offers. I think it's worth your asking price but will others? I should put it on for that and see what interest you get.

If you can sell it in somewhere like Bristol you may well get £150 but other parts of the country would not do as well. ie Northamptonshire.

So offering to post it may well make a big difference.

It looks to be in great condition and with the shortage of bikes right now I`d certainly go for a higher end £120 and see how it goes.

Good morning,

If you look towards the bottom of

https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/e...t-us-know-if-you-see-something.93126/page-461

you will find a picture and link by DCLane to a 1980s Raleigh Pulsar, unridden, pedals still in the box and plastic over the bar tape.

This went for £120 with just one bid, although the eBay page has now gone, if I remember correctly it was collection only. This was in Feb this year, so past the anything will sell time.

The Pulsar and your Winner are pretty much the same bike give or take.

Posted in 2010, so the bike was 10 years newer but no covid premium, https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/old-raleigh-winner.56195/

Bye

Ian

The pulsar had the aero tubing, so it is rather different.

Nevertheless, you're right in essence. The pulsar and quasar were never that numerous, probably because they were quite expensive when new. As a result they tend to sell for a bit more to people my age, who were teenagers back then and who dribbled over them but had zero prospect of affording one.

As such I would suggest the Michael Winner would sell for a lttle less. Never say never, you might find someone desperate for one as they had one as a kid, or some kind of similar emotional attachment, but generally speaking I too would go with Bigg's guestimate. As nice as it is the gas pipe Raleighs are ten a penny, and only those in the budget Team Banana livery consistently go above the ton.
