Rambo had an accident...

At lunchtime me and the 19yr old, who has been using Rambo( full suss Saracen MTB)since I got Priscilla, decided to go for a ride.
We decided on the 15 mile route and set off. We were about 5 miles in, on the canal towpath heading to the Falkirk Wheel, and were going up an incline at Lock 6.
I changed down a gear and stayed seated and the lad stood up on the pedals and kept the same gear.
He was slightly ahead of me, by a half a bike length.
I thought he had changed gear but the sound was way too loud for the gears mashing and was a horrendous crack! He stopped abruptly and I edged ahead but braked, as I knew something was wrong.

Now, I don't know the technical terms for bike parts, so I hope this makes sense!
The back wheel had come off. But not just off, the part behind the cogs had sheared off the wheel!
There was a bold type thing on the ground and the bearings were rolling about the path!

I told him to go wait up ahead (behind the high school) where he could sit on a wall, and I'd cycle home and get the truck and meet him.
I bombed it back home in record time, jumped in the truck and headed off to get him.
He seemed surprised I had got back that quickly....I thought I was slow!!

We brought Rambo home and well....he's dead....

The bolt or whatever was through here, sheared off...

Poor, poor Rambo!
He was a good age

Quick release, didn't you understand my accent?

The bit that slides through the hub to hold it in the frame, did it have a lever or nuts to hold it in place?

From that second photo it looks like the hollow axle has fallen out as well, any half decent lbs should have those, and be able to fit them if you don't fancy doing it yourself.

I'm not sure what I need to fix him and he needs a new chain too....even if I get the parts I wouldn't be able to fix him
