Joe, do you know that Sheldon Brown died 18 months ago? You write in a tense that suggests that he is still alive but doesn't know about this place.

Sheldon's site covers so much....personally I'm not interested in a bit of touring related information.

hey, peeps. Kick back. Roll something aromatic, set light to it and inhale deeply. Or pour yourselves a collective scotch and soda.

1. This is Shaun's front room. He spends time on it, without any hope of recompense, and if he wants it a certain way, then he wants it a certain way.

2. Randochap wasn't slung off. He was asked to stop doing something. What followed was, to be honest, a bit of a flounce in slow motion.

3. Don't try any of this on the CTC forum. It's like the passenger seat of Bond's DB5 over there.

I found that Ray had posted hundreds of separate links to his site despite also having it linked in his signature.

As such I asked that when he replied to posts he give advice rather than abitrarily linking to his site. (He already has a link to his site in his signature so it doesn't need linking to a second time in the reply post.)

(Note: I haven't asked Ray to remove any links to his site, or to remove the link from his signature.)

I said to Ray that if he continued to work his site links into his replies I would consider it spamming, and may suspend his account. (Maybe this was too harsh?)
FWIW, my blog is in my signature, and I have linked to it in the past on CC on the (very few) occasions I've written a "How to". In general I do that by giving a brief explanation, and then linking to the article on my site directly (I know I've done that with a thing I wrote about BB removal).

Maybe the half way house here is for the post to contain an explanation, with an invitation to the reader to see more detail (if they want) on the posters' site?

Why? Has he enflounced again? I missed that.

not sure, it wasn't an outright flounce this time, more of a subtle hint that it could be in the offing. We will of course try to provide regular updates as the fate of many hangs in the balance.

By the way, how do you fix a puncture?

Er, what's a puncture? ;) (oops, dangerous!)

There seem to be a lot of toys on the ground! Presumably they'll be staying there.

For what it's worth (not much) I think Randochap is a valued poster here, as well as an obvious cycling enthusiast, but I also think Admin has acted well within his rights and hasn't been unfairly harsh on Rando.

Let's hope that the dust settles and common sense prevails, and that bonj does what he thinks is best!

TBH I've been on forums ( with over-zealous admin/mods and spammy posters ) where this type of thread is constantly cropping up. For this one incident to cause such an outpouring just shows how good the forum actually is.
