Almost all animals get around 1 billion heartbeats in their lifetime, except for humans, who get around 2 billion. No-one knows why.

No laughing matter ......he says in a slightly strange voice

I have images of a future Bond Villian stealing and dominating the world's future supply....

'You will never get away with this! My God man! Your evil plan will render the world's child entertainers redundant! How can you even conceive of such a dastardly thing?! Do you expect me to put up with this?'

*Squeaky voice*

'No Mr Bond, I expect you to die!'

I'll get me coat...

More seriously, in 400 BC Sparta had 25 000 citizens, but half a million slaves.
My car will do 55 miles per gallon (if I drive it carefully). The QE2 would use a gallon of fuel to move 6 inches.

A surprising fact: British Gas can be efficient at times.

To whit: I reported a smell of gas (not the dog's) at 11.20. A van is up the road now. Less than 15 mins.
