There's always 1.

" It wasn't that close " !

Less than the distance shown in HC FFS

Once had a Driving Instructor pull alongside (with Pupil) and explain to me how it was illegal to ride on the road when there is a cycle path alongside!

Asked him to confirm it was illegal... and he did

So I 'forgot" the name of the School and emailed the video to all the main driving schools expressing my concern over the lack of knowledge nd what the pupil was being taught

They were all too keen to finger the Schools and a letter of apology was received along with assurances that the instructor and pupil had both been informed that this was not the case

I think it is partly down to a lack of spacial awareness as was commented on earlier. These vehicles are wider than average I think and are often driven by small (in various senses ) people. I have in the past driven larger vans for my business and currently have a fairly wide motorhome. You do have to be very aware of your place on the road and the nearside needs special care. Not that I making excuses for them but they are probably unaware of how far over they are.

I'm not one for generalisations but all urban male Chelsea tractor drivers, especially with rubbish personalised plates and blacked our windows, are inadequate with dillusions of being gangsta. Intimidating cyclists and pensioners on crossings make them feel like hard men. The female drivers tend to have problems seeing the road ahead as the sheer volume of lip filler has pumped up their top lips so much it obscures their field of vision.

I got close passed by a driving instructor in his work car last week... the odd Range Rover I get, but a p*ssing driving instructor?

This is like thinking just because just because it's a police car they wont do something twattish either....That's the way I used to think.

My main dodgy vehicles are BMW...there seem to be loads round here and on my commute....Don't get me wrong I don't hate them but I'm very wary of them.

I had a close pass last month near my house
Cycling along, I was overtaken near a pedestrian island by someone in a large 4x4 who just couldn't wait for 5 seconds. Luckily I anticipated the move as I heard the beast revvin up behind me, still gave me a scare though.
The private reg gave me a clue and Mr M confirmed the driver was one of his least favourite individuals from the golf club.
I'd nip down there and give him a right 'rollocking' in front of his cronies. :cursing:
