In other courier news... DPD (A collection fo couriers I believe) are excellent.

My Planet X delivery was due on a day I would not be there. I got a text at 9am telling me it was on the way and my options were;

Text 1 to deliver to neighbour
Text 2 to deliver the next day
Text 3 to deliver the day after

It's not rocket science but it's a degree of sensibility in an industry that is playing catch up.

It was the other way round HDL bought the domestic side of DHL then changed the name to Yodel in the hope no one would notice  I wont buy off anyone who uses Yodel or City Link just cant be bothered with the hassle.
I'm the same although It's Yodel and UPS in my case. City Link are brilliant for me, anything with my or missus name on it goes straight to her work, even it it's got our home address on it, maybe something to do with missus being mates with local depot manager.

Yes I agree DPD are good and I like the way they text you on the morning of the delivery with a 1 hour time slot

However they have not always been that way in winter 2010 they had problems and they actually canceled all deliveries because of bad weather although all the other couriers could get here fine, it caused havoc as I had a load of stock for building pc's for peope stuck in the central hub for weeks so I had to buy the stock again and drive to the suppliers to pick it up then wait weeks for the first order to be sent back so I could get a credit :cursing:

Here is a screen shot of the announcement on the website:

Some months back, my daughter ordered a pair of boots online from John Lewis. Two days later they were delivered by Yodel. No one was in but the card through the door said the parcel was underneath my motorbike cover along the sideway. I looked and there was no parcel. My daughter took it up with Yodel and then J.L. It went down as a lost Item. A week later when putting the dustbin out, out popped a parcel from behind the wheely bin. The same day J.L delivered a new pair of boots. I don't know what happened to the first pair of boots.

Citilink. Chuffing useless. They know their drivers are dishonest, so get them to record the colour of the front door, when they allegedly cannot deliver. Complained to local depot when they got it wrong(ie went home early without bothering) and got nowhere. we've also had stuff flung over a 7ft side gate and left in the bin.

Yodel did deliver a parcel to me a few weeks ago, I had no idea it was coming via them until it was too late .................. it arrived at about 14:30 ............ shame it was on a pre 12:00 delivery

I had a feeling it would probably arrive late because when I looked it up on their tracking system it said it had left the dept at 08:59 the problem is it left the STOCKTON ON TEES SERVICE CENTRE and I am in Harrogate North Yorkshire, so I rang them and queried this and they said yes it will arrive ok even when I pointed out it would probably take him the next couple of hours to get here due to traffic, usually yodel / DHL deliveries for this area come from keighley.

When it arrived I pointed out the fact that it was due here at 12:00 at the latest to the driver and the fact that it had a large 12 sticker on the parcel he just said that the system didnt tell him it was pre-12 :banghead:

Don't know about Yodel, but...

Got back with the hound this arvo to find a delivery guy leaving a neighbour's house looking put out & holding an Amazon box. I stopped him and offered to take it - I only live two doors down. He was appreciative, but mentioned that he'd already put the note thru' telling the guy he had to ring up & rearrange. I said that's ok, I'll leave another note saying what's happened. And off he went.

Went to drop off the note, and found, sitting on the doorstep, what looked like a fairly serious bit of electronic black box. It wasn't a brand or device I recognised, but it didn't look like the kind of thing that ought to be just sitting around on the doorstep, so I brought it back with me. Googled it out of curiosity. Turns out they cost upwards of £800 a pop. Waiting for the knock on the door...
I have never, ever had dealings with a delivery company as incompetent and useless, and whose operatives are as incompetent, useless and dishonest.

The moment I see Yodel pop up on any Amazon delivery I know the delivery wil take days if not weeks and be flagged as "incorrect address" or some other such drivel. This time it would have been quicker to get my son to cycle up to East Kilbride fro Birmingham to get his textbooks than to get Yodel to deliver them.
I had my first experience of Yodel this week.

The "service" was absolutely shocking. It has meant that the internet supplier of the item I bought (a £150 sat nav) have just lost my business. They reminded me of the bad old days of NTL (maaan, that was a shocking company). 2 attempted deliveries (claimed 3) with 1 of those attempts where they should have left with a neighbour. 3 phone calls-6 things not acted upon. The item was bought and shipped almost 2 weeks ago. They wanted me to go and pick it up from their depot 20 miles away. Not happening.

They have gone on my never use list (not exhaustive):
Yodel
BT
Eon

It was so bad that I will have to be very hard pushed to use an internet supplier that uses them to deliver.

I was very impressed by DPD recently when my new phone arrived. SMS updates as to where the parcel was, SMS to say it will be delivered between XX time and XX time, with an option to text back to change instructions. As I was in work that day, I was able to text back and say leave with a neighbour. Reply text to say accepted. Text leter that day to tell me where it had been left, name and number of house. Fab !!

A friend of mine's parcel has been 'delivered' and signed for, but not delivered to him at his address...
Same problem here . Ordered item from Very on line. tracking says delivered on19 April by Yodel. I don't have it. more annoying is that Very refunded my money and didn't offer to send another. Shocking service from both.
