It's even nicer when it's picked fresh from the garden, cooked and eaten still hot. YUM!

Good to pickle one's homegrown beetroot too.

One of my favourite sandwiches is a good strong cheddar topped with pickled beetroot on thick bread.. YUM!

I thought I was the only one! I get Abel and Cole deliveries and got some beetroot in my box last year. Cooked and pickled it myself.

Well, I believe you'll be sharing the dock with me, seeing as you posted beetroot. As any fule kno beetroot is not actually a food.

I didn't know rice was supposed to make you thin. I had a lot of rice pudding on Sunday - am I in danger of wasting away?

I don't think so, it's possible but unlikely.

Duct tape.

Ask him why he's still quite tubby even though he eats all this rice?
It's not the rice. It's the sausages (and pie and cake and buttered toast and ice-cream and curry). Git!

Oooooh, crappy white sliced bread. Essential for late night toast fests and bacon butties.

I know, I'm the same and it's true, I am.

And I still give you duct tape....and cable ties.

Fish. Any fish.

+1

Including shellfish and cephalopods. (Look it up!)

Dutch raw herrings being my No 1 favourite variety, and seriously underrated in Britain.

I am currently munching on a sandwich for lunch. It is homemade bread, good strong cheddar, homegrown and home-pickled beetroot.

Soup sausages (Mettwurst pref. from Luxembourg) thrown in a pot with fresh vegetables and split peas. Or substitute a bacon joint for the Mettwurst.
My Dad wrote the ad for The Original, and I can still remember almost all of it:

Long grain rice all the way from America
Red peppers, green peppers, juicy green beans
Blah blahdy blah blahdy blah blahdy blahdy blah
Bachelors Savoury Rice!

(the beans, in truth, were anything but juicy)
Cool-tastic! We are not worthy, etc! I know the missing line (I have a stupidly good memory for the ads of my youth)...
it is....
"Carrots and peas and a pinch of seasoning"
