Saturday we went to Norfolk. To Hunstanton for a couple of days. (Would love to be there on Thursday). We came across some really rude people. GF and I went with her son, his GF and their 2 daughters.
1. We went to the big Tesco near Searles after a pleasant day in town. When driving out of carpark GF noticed her son's back door was not shut properly so as we got to the main road and were waiting in traffic she jumped out, ran to his car and shut the door. Took at the most 30 seconds. Car behind, youth, statred beeping horn and shouting and swearing. She called back that his door was open and it was dangerous. This incensed the youth to more swearing and beeping horn. We drove off. At the next roundabout he sat behind us with his hand on the horn and then screamed off up the road.
2. Sunday went to Wells. Had a really nice day on the beach. paddling and sandcastle building with the 2 year old. The 14 week baby just lying on the rug in the shade of the pushchairs. As we were about to leave, to get the 4:20 choo choo train back to town, I picked up the baby and handed her to her mother. I stood up and a dog came bounding across the rug where, seconds before, the baby had been. GF's son called across to the dog owner that he should keep it on a lead as there are children about. We were greated with a tirade of abuse and that we should learn to share the beach. Had this dog come crashing onto our rug a few seconds earlier we would now be rushing the child to casualty. When GF's son pointed out baby and toddler we were again told to "F**k off" and "Go back where you came from" in a thick Scots accent so he wasn't a local. We noticed that when he got the dog under control away up the beach he did put it on a lead so I shouted a big "Thankyou" to him but he didn't reply.
3. I was standing by the exit door of the cafe by the carpark at the beach. As people were coming out I stood till they came out. I was going in to help GF carry the ice creams she was buying us all. As I was waiting for the last person, with a tray of food, to come out some ignorant git pushed past me and forced his way in causing the last woman with her tray of food to have to get out of his way or lose her tray.
What happened to people being chiiled and relaxed on holiday. Having some degree of common curtesy and politeness. Being willing to accept they are wrong and not immediately lash out with the verbal abuse. They Scottish guy with the dog was shouting and swearing knowing there were other families with children around and not every parent want their children to hear such language.
Sorry to go on but it was not as pleasant a couple of days as it could have been.
Maybe I don't want to be there on Thursday after all.
