No I suspect most of them haven’t got a clue. Similar to most Americans haven’t got a clue where most of America is.

That's probably why they referred to Communists as 'Pinkos'. If they had said 'Reds' then they would have been confused with Republicans

I believe this is actually a fact. Bill Bryson who I believe was once an US citizen mentions it in one of he’s well researched books that students at the University of Wisconsin couldn’t find Florida on a map of the USA or the other way round

I don’t know about ‘where America is’, but some struggle with ‘where Britain is’. I remember a (possibly faked) picture of a world map with dots of where College students had marked the position of Britain. It was not encouraging, but was amusing.

Gert Fröbe was the German actor who played the James Bond villain Goldfinger in the film of the same name.

After WWII his films were banned in Israel when it was discovered he'd joined the N*zi party in 1934, when he was 21. However, it was found he'd left the party before the war in 1937, and a Jewish Holocaust Survivor came forward to say he'd protected them in his cellar while they were being sought by the authorities. His films were thus reinstated in Israel.
