Really TRUE odd factoids

[DaveReading]

The deepest lake in the UK is Loch Morar in the Highlands of Scotland, reaching a maximum depth of 310 meters.

...and there have been numerous dives to the bottom of Wastwater as a simple search will reveal.

FTFY

But there's only one lake in Scotland, and it's not Morar.

Pareidolia is the tendency to see faces or meaningful patterns in everyday objects.

More about deep lakes (sorry).
I think we agreed that Wastwater was the deepest lake** in England at 79 mtrs.
** below is a quote
"Yes, Wast Water is a glacial lake located in the Wasdale valley of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England".

That got me interested and what i found is imo really mind blowing.
1st The deepest lake in the world is Lake Baikal in Siberia at a STAGGERING 1642 mtrs deep (compared to Wastwaters 79 mtrs).
2nd Is Lake Tanganyika at a mere 1470 mtrs.
3rd Is the Caspian Sea (which is a lake) at 1025 mtrs BUT its surface area is amazingly bigger than Japan.
I cant get my head around those stats.

I first went to Wastwater with the school. We even went canoeing on it.

Just three lakes.
Lake Baikal, Superior and Tanganyika hold almost 50% Of the total fresh water in the world.

Did you mean in liquid form? Antarctica has somewhat more fresh water but it's frozen.
