Rear derailler change

Does anyone know if I change my Shimano 105 11 speed rear mach if I have to change the cable?? The inner and outer are in very good nick. I'm changing from the 5800 to the new rd7000 one as I can't purchase the 5800 as I believe it's obsolete.

No it’s easy to change without swapping cables, just snip the ferrule of the end of the inner cable, release the clamping bolt and it will just slip off. Some mechs will even allow the cable just to slide out without having to remove the ferrule.

Agreed - I have usually found the ferrule will pull off with pliers if you’re short on cable and it needs to come off.
