Looking for another rear light to back up my Blackburn Mars 3.0 attached to saddle bag.
Want to attach it to helmet so any suggestions up to £30 if necessary.

I had one of THESE in the winter months when I used to commute. It's a decent 'be seen' light and worked well IME.

FYI it fitted better on one of my helmets than the another, so maybe bear this in mind, but of course Wiggle/CRC do free returns so you can't go wrong.

Are you after a little bit of high level awareness for the car behind the car behind you or are you after a rear light of similar power to a frame mounted one which may be rather eye searing at head level for those following you?

Awareness ones, the topeak front and rear in one unit, a knog (ono) rear, lezyne femto. More eye searing intensity: many of the AAA upright types, smart 1/2 watt style sit well on the back of a helmet.

You do need to consider the rake and vents if using the back of the helmet as the mount point, along with your riding position, if you're quite head down style you could end up doing little more than signalling to passing planes.

Just need a 'to be seen' rear light to supplement my other one. The topeak looks ok but some concern about battery life. I'll check out the others as well.

If you've got decent lights on the bike, all you need is Aldi micro lights for your helmet.
Cheap (£2.99 per pair) easy to fit and more than adequate. More over, you'll get some this Sunday.

I use one of these:- http://www.decathlon.co.uk/vioo-100-rear-lighting-black-id_8187577.html

It fits really well and it is very bright.
It also has a reasonable run-time.

That is not mine in the picture, mine is fixed on with the stretchy straps that come with the Flare. The advantage is the size and shape of the light and the fact that is is visible from all angles

I have a small light that came with an LG helmet, it sticks via velcro to the ratchet mechanism on the helmet. You can however buy them separate and they come with an adhesive velcro attachment you can stick to your own helmets ratchet mechanism. Fairly bright for the size and I THINK 3-4 modes of operation, constant, flashing and some sort of more elaborate flashing mode.
