Chinese Oakley copies from ebay. Jawbreakers, plus case and 4x spare lenses for about £13 posted. Really can't go wrong.

thanks ... will check these .... I've read a good review on these, just not sure if the lenses are good quality though(photochronmec, UVB and UVA ratings?) ... they look a bit dark though

UV ratings are all good as the lenses are polycarbonate. Spare lenses vary with whatever model you buy, but mine included red, yellow, clear, as well as the usual dark and iridium.

Don't skimp on sunglasses, you only get one pair of eyes and they have to last you a long time. Make sure they 100% block UV (and don't believe everything the Chinese tell you). A tinted lens, even a lightly tinted one, will open up the iris and let in more UV, so you will be in a worse position than if you wore nothing. Trying to save a couple of pounds is a complete false economy.

Rudy, Bolle and Oakley are brands I would trust. Certainly not Chinese copies.

The Chinese lenses check out fine. They are just as UV compliant as any other polycarbonate lense. The majority of lenses for all other manufacturers come out of China anyway, just like the bikes do. As a material, polycarbonate offers high levels of UV protection in any case.

Didn't know that polycarbonate blocked UV naturally. You learn something new everyday.
Aside from that there are some things I would be okay buying direct from China on the internet but.... Actually, scratch that, there aren't. Each to their own I suppose.

I use these . The conditions seem to stay the same all the time so they are either very good or the conditions have stayed the same  http://www.fawkes-cycles.co.uk/2475015/products/nrc-pro-line-px-dg-photochromic-glasses.aspx

I have photochromic i.e. They go from clear to dark depending on the light, prescription Oakleys, very good and obviously much cheaper without the prescription (mine were around £260)

I use the Bolle safety glasses and some cheap safety 'sun' glasses from ebay or amazon - I can't find the email and so cannot be more specific. IMHO, they are excellent for the job and excellent for the price - about £4 per pair (one dark and one orange). I even wear them as regular sunglasses.

Edit: Just found the email - they've doubled in price since I bought mine in June 2014:
