If you see one on a site say Virgin or Carphone Wharehouse.Go and google TRUSTED REVIEWS.It is a brilliant site giving honest reviews.I got my Microsoft Lumia 640 xl after reading about it.It's costing me just pennies over £10 per month. In November i will have had it 24 months and it comes down to £5 a month. With Virgin.

My cousin has one and I know she's happy with it. I bought a 730 and the screen gave up after 9 months. Microsoft didn't want to know.

Not sure why you want a phone to contact people and then not have Facebook (and other stuff) which is used to contact people. You can then contact people with text, whatsapp and similar, linked in, Facebook, video calls ,regular calls, Facebook texts, Twitter texts if you feel Tweety, contact using pictures with photobicket et all,
..oh wait, ok j see what you mean.

Joking aside, Whatsapp is pretty useful, depending on the circles you move in. I've a friend who's forever breaking his phones and changing numbers - I can, at least, always raise him on Whatsapp, even if I don't have his current number. It's good for group activities too, messaging meetup details, actions before the next meeting &c

My 8 year old phone has packed in. It won't charge up now. I'll have to buy another. Sad as i usually get someone's cast off for free. Please recommend me an easy to use, cheap to run and cheap to buy phone please.

If you don't want a smart phone, what about a new Nokia 3310?

Or if you can be tempted to try a smartphone with all those fancy apps like Garmin, Strava and Ride With GPS, you won't go far wrong with a Motorola G4.

If you do decide on a smartphone, Mrs M has just got a Motorola G5 Plus, and is very impressed by it.

Look on E-bay "featured deals", there is a SIM-free (i.e. unlocked) Motorola Moto G for £105, it is refurbished but comes with a 12 month Argos warranty (it's being sold by Argos on E-Bay).

Another option is the Samsung J5 - more in the £130 bracket but my mate had one and said most things on it were nearly as good as the galaxy S7.

You should all be grateful that he ignored your advice. He had a tremendous amount of trouble reading 2 pages of instructions, inserting 2 cards and a battery and charging it. Imagine how he'd be getting on with a smartphone?

Not the only one having trouble either
What will the OP need to do if he needs/wants to move his contacts from his old sim/phone to his new one?

(I've been syncing my contacts to my desktop and then to my gmail account since 2003 so have no idea how to do this)
