Recommend me a good frying pan that doesn't cost silly money.

We've got one very similar to the second link (probably the same one). it is very good. but even the best ones can fail if not treated correctly. I've had probably 10 pans in my lifetime, and lived with people who all insist on either scrubbing them or putting them in the dishwasher. My current ongoing argument is that my partner puts it in the dishwasher because it says "dishwasher safe" on it. This is slowly but surely ruining it. It only needs a hot wipe with oil and kitchen paper, before and after cooking if necessary.

I liken them to oil changes on cars - you can have the most expensive oil in the world but if you don't change it at the required intervals it will still degrade and cause problems

True words.
Mine has now got to the point where a quick wipe isn't always sufficient, I had to soak and hand wash it yesterday.

I've just seen that Aldi are selling them from Thursday..... £12.99.
Thier pots/pans etc have a good rep' and by coincidence I am at the dentist on Thursday and that's 100 yards from Aldi. I will have a look at them.

Just by the by in case anyone who has mucked up an expensive pan finds it useful these guys are really excellent for a re-coat at way less cost than replacing the pan like-for-like:

https://www.eastmidcoat.com/teflon-coatings/

I used them for 2x SKK pans whose non-stick properties had disappeared after c20 years and whatever particular flavour of non-stick* they used is really outstanding.

*They use either Xylan or Teflon according to your usage. I'm sure they told me which I had, but I can't remember :headshake:

Can you give us the cost please?
I imagine that getting it there, coating it then returning it will not be cheap.

Many moons ago a friend who has to have the best of everything spent a small fortune on a 'professional' non stick frying pan, and the first time he accidentally left it on the heat for far too long, the Teflon all bubbled and the pan was fecked. I'm a muppet and have done the same thing countless times with my Tefal frying pants and the Teflon has never been affected.

I just use my regular pants when cooking...

It was £20/pan* 2 years ago - they're well-used by the local catering industry they said. This happened to be one I'd been chatting to for a while, and when I was in the area I dropped the pans in, but these services will be in most areas.

IIRC SKK wanted about the cost of a new pan for the same service!
