I've got some Dunlop Purofort and they are excellent. Really comfy, steel toe-caps and steel shanks. I'm not bothered about toe caps, as they can cause toe-stubbing, but steel shanks help make them stiffer and hence more comfy (for me) - both are intended as safety features. Also previously had Dunlop Acifort, which are also good - but think these are discontinued. Both types are fairly slim fitting - so snug to walk in - which is a good thing - rather than extra-wide fits all stylee of the old days. I guess they'd be £30 at least so not cheap.
Don't get Dunlop Suretread - with the grey soles - very un-grippy.
Cheap wellies can be very good or can be rubbish - no way of telling - but I have had some £3 wellies (some while ago) which were every bit as good as the Dunlops. I've also binned a pair of convincing looking death boots after a very scary caving trip which I mostly spent on my arse.
