Mine unaccountably have a large NCB logo on them.
Strange how that happens isn't it? I have had one or two items with NCB on them, similarly British Coal has also appeared on some things too, don't know how, it's a mystery.

Joules are fairly comfortable but don't have the grip that Hunters do. Suppose it depends if you're using them in proper mud though? Dubarrys if you've got a few hundred quid to spare, they'll last you a lifetime so it's more of an investment. Or look at some horse sites for proper boots, wellies are great for summer but they just give you cold feet in the winter.

I've got a great pair of Dunlop wellies supplied by Yorkshire Water that have served me well for 30 years of occasional use. Great value at 'never returned to the stores at the end of my summer job'.

I have heard good things about Dunlop wellies but they seem to be a bit too heavy for long walks. Maybe I should get a pair for gardening.

I doubt they're british made, but they are of similar quality to Psrcours. The zip is nylon, so just needs a bit if gt85 to keep it sweet.

My usage is daylong walking, to shoot over wolds woodland and pastureland etc. From September thtprough to Feb they get used weekly.

How about these? A snip at £340 from welly warehouse. Especially with the free boot jack.

I wear wellies every day, and have tried most work boots and fir my money Bekina make the best . Very light and comfortable and last 6 months
with constant use . The higher end are made of soft rubber that splits to easy . Hunters lack grip and wear easy on concrete .

a hundred and forty quid for a pair of wellies!!! is that because they're ladies wellies?

That is because they are good wellies and some people need them for long walks. My research showed two common elements: cheap wellies don't last long before they start leaking ( Dunlop seems to be the exception) - they aren't make from natural rubber, and they are not comfortable enough for long walks.

To tease you a bit more  £140 seems like a good price cause I saw them for up to £170

I just come from a farm store where I tried on some nice wellies but they were £265... i didn't like the colour  so I didn't buy them.

Thanks @Cubist - they are made in Ireland so that is good news to me.

As I said above, I visited a farm store where they had a really good selection of boots. I phoned before I went and they told me they had the Wanderer Spirit in stock but when I got there they didn't have the spirit but a similar one, without the zip. http://www.toggi.com/acatalog/Wanderer_Green_Footwear.html
I tried them on and they felt good. Good price at £68 but I want the zip and strap.

I haven't been able to find the AIGLE Parcours ISO 2 boots locally so it's hard to make a decision.

What you say about the zip is reassuring. The Aigle Parcours ISO 2 is lined with 4.5 mm of neopren. The Toggi is too but I don't think it's quite 4.5 which I think it's a good thing for summer, an extra pair of socks should do the trick in the winter..

I also looked at some muck wellies and I just don't like the look of them.... they seem like very good wellies though.

Conclusion..... @Cubist you have convinced me  so I'm going to order a pair of wellies like yours. They seem to fit the bill and I save £60..... if they don't live up to it then I'll get the Aigle Parcours ISO 2 without any questions, research, etc

Thanks @Cubist for your help, much appreciated.

If you knew how much I have paid for leather boots in the past you would think I'm mad

I have a pair of steel-toecapped industrial strength wellies that were issued to a porter in the NHS about 25 yrs ago, and who gave them to me (for some reason... he was a bit of a nobber, to be honest). They are still going strong, get worn for muddy walks, gardening, etc. Haven't used them in sado-masochistic rituals yet, but you never know.

I have a pair of Aigle wellies for summer and thermal lined Le Chameau for the winter. Both are the pull on type without buckles at the side or zips and both are extremely comfortable over a variety of terrain. I use the wellies with Superfeet inserts for that little extra support.
