a hundred and forty quid for a pair of wellies!!!

is that because they're ladies wellies?
That is because they are good wellies and some people need them for long walks. My research showed two common elements: cheap wellies don't last long before they start leaking ( Dunlop seems to be the exception) - they aren't make from natural rubber, and they are not comfortable enough for long walks.
To tease you a bit more

£140 seems like a good price cause I saw them for up to £170
I just come from a farm store where I tried on some nice wellies but they were £265... i didn't like the colour

so I didn't buy them.
I doubt they're british made, but they are of similar quality to Psrcours. The zip is nylon, so just needs a bit if gt85 to keep it sweet.
My usage is daylong walking, to shoot over wolds woodland and pastureland etc. From September thtprough to Feb they get used weekly.
Thanks @
Cubist - they are made in Ireland so that is good news to me.
As I said above, I visited a farm store where they had a really good selection of boots. I phoned before I went and they told me they had the Wanderer Spirit in stock but when I got there they didn't have the spirit but a similar one, without the zip.

I tried them on and they felt good. Good price at £68 but I want the zip and strap.
I haven't been able to find the AIGLE Parcours ISO 2 boots locally so it's hard to make a decision.
What you say about the zip is reassuring. The Aigle Parcours ISO 2 is lined with 4.5 mm of neopren. The Toggi is too but I don't think it's quite 4.5 which I think it's a good thing for summer, an extra pair of socks should do the trick in the winter..
I also looked at some muck wellies and I just don't like the look of them.... they seem like very good wellies though.
Conclusion..... @
Cubist you have convinced me

so I'm going to order a pair of wellies like yours. They seem to fit the bill and I save £60..... if they don't live up to it then I'll get the Aigle Parcours ISO 2 without any questions, research, etc
Thanks @
Cubist for your help, much appreciated.
How about
these? A snip at £340 from welly warehouse. Especially with the free boot jack.
If you knew how much I have paid for leather boots in the past you would think I'm mad
