I am now in posession of a single speed Pearson courtesy of @User OTP. I am looking for a couple of compact wrenches to carry in the saddle bag should the need for wheel removal arise.
A single spanner should do the trick. I've got a 15mm ring spanner that used to be a combi spanner until I flared the open end on a stuck pedal. I cut it down to remove the damaged end and made it just short enough to fit my seat pack.
If you do go for the short spanner approach, make sure you can apply enough grunt to undo the wheels with it.
I have a ball spanner from Wilkos. Works ok on my touché. I'm sure better are available. I can't actually get the chain tension right so any puncture would need an LBS trip
Front wheel is QR
Surly, VeloSolo, Pedros (Trixie, my personal weapon of choice), et cetera all do decent but expensive spanners. Draper do nice adjustables and just about any decent quality 15mm open ended will do the job. I've got one which is open-ended at one end and ratchet at the other.
