We are spending Christmas in the village of Bitton near Bristol/Bath. I am looking for recommendations of nice (road) routes avoiding traffic and hassle. I have done a 32km route here https://ridewithgps.com/routes/17862670 - ANY COMMENTS? Will add a 50k route shortly.

If anyone fancies joining/guiding me ( average speed around 23kmh for undulating Hants) get in touch. I will probably be riding 23/24/26 December.

I aware I am near the B2B path so can always nip there for an extra leg stretch

Will be using my Garmin to navigate so complicated is not a problem

Try the Avon cycleway - it uses a short stretch of the railway path at Bitton. You could also head to Bath and do the Two Tunnels & Colliers Way.

In the south/west directions. Cut lumps out of this as you see fit:

72 miles http://cycle.travel/map/journey/9942 - Bath station - Two Tunnels - Radstock - top of the Mendips - Cheddar Gorge - Strawberry Line - Festival Way - Bristol and Bath Railway Path. Bitton is on the BBRP. You could cut off the centre of Bath if wanted.

90 miles http://cycle.travel/map/journey/9943 - as above, but heads south from Radstock to visit Frome (home of the Cobble Wobble hill climb, but I'm not sure if the one-way system lets you test your strength when the event's not on - it's a bit early in the ride anyway!) before heading up onto the Mendips.

I did a route back in August that went through the countryside just north of Bristol. We started in Keynsham, but passed by the Avon Valley railway on the way out and back in. It was 50 miles. If you're interested, I'll see if I can figure out a way to share the route with you from Strava. I also have a 36 mile route that heads through Burrington Combe I can share.

This route I have done several times. You can omit the start and finish but you can start from Bitton and then go with the flow
