I know war is horrible: I know millions died: I know there's loads of poignant letters; I know there's lots of heart-tugging poetry; I know the war-graves are photogenic and strikingly evocative...
...but I can't help thinking that the BBC are revelling in this anniversary.
Milking it for all its worth while conveniently ignoring that there are many wars since with horrendous levels of inhumanity and brutality. I've heard a few references today (not only by the BBC) that WW1 was a turning point in warfare and global strife.
Did they miss WW2, Rwanda, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Iraq the sequel etc.
