Who makes mitts like the Spesh BG gel ones other than spesh please so I can buy a pair without my beer tokens going to Spesh.

Good question. And I suspect I share your bias. Whilst I do rate my BG mitts, I do kind of wish they weren't Specialized.

But to answer the question, the other pair I have that I'd call a close 2nd are my Mavic ones. I'll have to find the exact name but they were in their more expensive range.

Oh, my BG mitts did not have a good start and some stitching popped very early on. Since my wife restitched them, they've been fine.

Edit: they're the Infinity glove

Giro are well regarded for mitts

I have the specialized ones, comfortable but they started to pong after not much use. Rubbish as can't get rid of the smell permanently, so I'd be interested in this. Pearl izumi do good gel mitts too, but I had the same problem (I didn't realise my hands were so toxic!)

I recently got some reduced sportful ones from sigma but not as well padded and the fingers have started to fray

I was reading about some cube womens ones which allow UV through so you don't end up with the daft white hands that I presently have!

Wear your daft white hands with pride (and a long sleeved shirt at work)

I find Purple Harry's Helmet Shoe and Glove Sanitiser keeps the worst of the reekage under control. But yes, boy can Spesh BG gloves pong after a ride.

Or join my new fashion of one white hand.....

What's wrong with Spesh by the way? Have I missed something (they haven't moved to a castle have they?)

My left hand and wrist look especially ridiculous as I wear a watch while cycling too. I also have lines on my upper arms and thighs. Fortunately, I am off on holiday soon so can hopefully get a bit more colour all over! I am also meant to be cutting the cycling right back so that may help too

Late last year the nobbers at Spesh tried to sue a Canadian bike store called Café Roubaix claiming they had turned the word Roubaix into a trademark which they owned. Though they later backed down I decided they were big enough cocks to do that sort of thing they could do without my custom from then on.

Oh now I remember. I don't tend to buy any Spesh stuff anyway but agree totally with your stance. They were a bit kerbheaded about that

It was Specialized legal department. Once the big boss of Specialized got wind of it he pulled the injunction, even going to the store to apologise in person.

Specialized just suffer from being the big corporate fish. It's like most things, the company that is playing the game best (i.e. making the most money) tends to be slated more than any of the others because they aren't in it for the love of the thing any more. Most consumers forget that the point of corporations is to make money. Often this stuff blows up because things like copyright laws are ridiculously complicated and not protecting your stuff in some places can lead to it being exploited in others. This means bean counters tend to be over zealous and you have to hope some sort of common sense comes in (it doesn't always.)

On the OP, I liked the look of the Pearl Izumi gel gloves, but I'll give the others a search out too, I really need something to give some cushioning, my current gloves don't and I'm suffering with a numb left hand quite badly.

My favourite mitts are Louis Garneau Aerogel ones. Good padding but not that thick, which I think is why they are the most comfortable for me. Nice mitts and currently on clearance in Evans at half price
