You can use threadlock, but I tend to use a bit of grease instead, if tightened properly they won't come undone, and the grease will help when it comes to undo them again.

Ceramic grease is probably fine, I use Shimano assembly grease for things around the bottom bracket.

Thanks. I used some lithium grease as it was nearer to hand than the tub of ceramic.

Next up the fun came when I found my torque wrench only went up to 24nm. I have a bigger 1/2" drive torque wrench for doing cassettes, but I don't have a 1/2" 8mm bit. Sets look pricey, so guess I'm without the bike until I can get hold of the right bit and/or a reducer set? Does anyone know if the reducers have any impact on the torque going through the wrench? I.e. does it impact accuracy?

Never used a torque wrench on chainring bolts - I just tighten them up good and tight - the grease helps here. Then I check them after a couple of rides - not needed to do anything with them yet.

Little update to confirm new chainrings on, tightened up the torque fairly easily. Quick test on the road and all seems to be changing smoothly, no sense of chain skipping so fingers crossed that's it sorted.

If only I hadn't knackered my back, I'd be out enjoying the autumn sunshine on it.

Thanks all for help and tips.

Bumping this thread as I now have a worn chainring on n+1 (or at least I suspect it is, given I have some unexpected downshifting under load, and cleaning the bike tonight I can see some worn out teeth).

Any idea how I can replace this FSA AGX 48T (90mm BCD)? FSA's own site has it out of stock - hoping it isn't a game over & replace both chainrings job. Might be the FSA Omega? (Based on this)

FWIW - Bike is 2022 Giant Revolt 2, GRX 810 drivetrain.

Thanks as always.

Where are the chainring bolts?
