Changing the pads on both front and rear calipers. Sram Via Gt hydraulic system . I've cleaned up and pushed the pistons back but when I put the new pads in they are just about touching leaving no room for the rotor.
I cannot get the pistons to reset flush with the caliper body to give me the clearance needed for the new pads.

Any advice?

I had similar trouble recently except when I pushed one back, the other side came out. I released the cable which allowed both to be pushed right back.

Is that the metal collar at the end of the hose? Is it undone by hand or tool ?

Eta, are you referring to cable hydraulics there? I'm full hydro.
Yes and yes. Sorry for saying cable, I meant hose......

as said, your system is over filled.
remove excess fluid and you will be ok

I figured this would help and did it this morning. I did get the pistons to reset properly and fitted the wheels back, pumped the levers to set the calipers but the clearance is very minimal, I feel the pistons should retract more than they are. I did push the pistons out a bit with a spacer clamped between them and cleaned the sides up with ipa in case it was crud crusting up causing it.

Also there is a fair bit of lever travel before the pads engage.
