So I spend time this morning looking at several pair of cycling shorts, before buying a pair of Altura bib shorts, show them to my wife and she gigles and says "it's a mankini" before singing a song from Gnomeo and Juliet (I believe one of the gnomes appears a-la Borat at this point in the film)!
I don't know why I bother sometimes.........

I enjoy scaring my kids wearing mine doing a "Big Daddy" impression, easy easy easy. Apparently I am "not cool"

Me too. Or when warm enough, the jeans are replaced with some baggy regular knee length shorts. In the real hot weather, I do tend to get quote hot in t-shirts so am considering buying a cycling top. (Although I don't see any risk of real hot weather at the moment.. )

must admit i have commuted in steelies quite a few times

I've been commuting in steelies for about 30 years.
On the fixed getting the cadence above 100 rpm in steelies results in a flywheel effect.

Returning dripping wet from a ride yesterday I walked in the front door of my house and put my bike in its normal place in the hallway. I then proceeded to put my helmet on the kitchen worktop, my jacket on the back of a chair and make myself a cup of coffee, all whilst dripping water over the floor.

I then drank my coffee whilst reflecting on the advantages of living on my own


(In my defence I do clean the house thoroughly once every 2 or 3 weeks!)
