Cycled 48 miles yesterday with 2897 ft of elevation gain (according to strava) and feel a bit stiff and achey. Do I rest up today or man up and get back on the bike (already done 7 miles today getting to work and back).

A day of rest would do no harm. Depends how well you recover, how old you are etc. We're all different.

Rest up, no point doing yourself an injury, or feeling even worse afterwards and then having to be off the bike for a couple of days instead of just one.

Rest it is, the bottle of ice cold beer in the fridge swayed my decision. @Hacienda71, just starting to up my speed and distance with the help of a work mate. I cycle for enjoyment, I love it, it makes me feel alive and free.

If you ache rest till you don't, as the ache is the muscles repairing the damage you did and when they recover they will be strong and fitter, but no more than a few days.
