Now that Prendas only sell caps and a few accessories, does anyone have any recommendations as to where I could buy good quality retro tops and bibs pls?

I have no idea of the quality, but Granny Gear do some retro tops - https://www.grannygear.co.uk/

The Santini tops that Prendas did were quailty items.

I get a lot of my jerseys by scouring ebay for vintage/ retro stuff in my size. Today I rode to work in a nice blue jersey with elasticated sleeves* from a French cycling club which advertises a trucking company.

*great to pair with armwarmers. Extra grip!

It's hard to find bibshorts / jersey sets this way though.

don't the "rules" say the bib shorts should always be black? :okay:

Whilst I don't follow such tosh, it does mean you can pair them with any jersey.

Yes sad demise of the prenda's jersey, decent quality Santini jerseys in great retro replica designs from yesteryear. i have La vie Clare and Peugeot in short and long sleeve and some Bianchi stuff. There Edge and Toro gel bib shorts also suited my rear end.

Nothing linked above or what i have seen matches it. you either get the replica designs in dubious quality and sizing from China, or such a Goat or Santini, but in just "normal" designs, albeit with a hint of retro about them.

Foska do some "fun" designs of food and drink stuff mainly, and their quality is good. I have a Marmite winter jacket that must be 15-20 years old and is still going strong

I pretty much do that, mostly black bibs. I've got some black bibs with bits of yellow in or some red details that go better with certain jerseys too.

Good morning,
I have no idea of the quality, but Granny Gear do some retro tops - https://www.grannygear.co.uk/

I did look at Granny Gear a few months ago as they came up in the advertising panel on this site.

Then I found this page
https://www.grannygear.co.uk/a/faq
Packages are sent directly from our manufacturer in Asia and is delivered via your local postal service. In the UK, this will be by Royal Mail.

Our products are usually delivered within 10-15 business days of the order date but can sometimes take up to 30 business days at peak times or in extreme circumstances!

Had they been a UK operation that had bought the stock from Asia and it was sitting in someone's warehouse/living room/garage and were shipping from the UK then I would have bought some, but they are not. So they seem to be expensive in comparison with other sites that seem to be selling the same jerseys with similar shipping times.

I noticed this a lot over the last few years, overseas suppliers with websites that initially appear to suggest a local distribution but are actually something different. I suspect that this allows for much higher prices, as it appears to me that many of the jerseys that I see on the Granny Gear site at £35 are available elsewhere for £10-£15 including P+P with the same delivery periods.

If you do an internet search for This Guy Needs A Beer Cycling Jersey you may see what I mean.

I have bought two jerseys from Light In The Box this year.

First one was great - probably about £25 or so but as good as any other light lycra top. So being pleased with that - ordered a second. Looked to be the same jersey but different design. Size was completely wrong even though it had the same label as the first.
No real way to get your money back - so I resold it on ebay to recoup a bit.

So - don't use light in the box.

Ebay with people actually there to measure the jersey would be a good bet - and yes - just buy decent plain black shorts.
Nobody is harking back to the glory days of wet wool shorts and real chamois inserts. They were really crap..

The question will be if Santini continue to do the retro kits. If they stop, and I have the impression that Prendas really drove the demand, then it looks like dodgy copies from the Far East, eBay for vintage bits, or the various producers of retro wool kit. While lovely this last option is very spendy!
