I never particularly liked 531. Columbus always felt better.

Yes, just like often used to happen with steel frames in the sixties. And seventies. And eigties. And nineties.

Carbon is great, but its not the holy love child of John Paul II and Mother Teresa with supernatural holy powers. Its a frame material, with benefits and drawbacks, just like all mother materials.

I have a Reynolds 500 frame on an old rigid mtb made for Schwinn in Hungary. Do you think it is worth building up?
I don't see why not. Mine is a nice bike. More armchair than rocket ship.

My custom built bike is 953.
Very stiff. Very plush.
Pretty light.
Silver fillet brazed.
An absolute delight to ride.
But, I would say that, wouldn't I?

What colour is it? Audio fidelity can be improved by outlining the lugs with a green marker pen. Also, you will get better stereo imaging and a wider soundstage with more presence if you make sure the brake cable outers are connected the right way round: the arrows printed on the case should be pointing from levers towards the calipers.
