As with most of us, plans change, or get 'thrown up in the air'

This would be a 50th birthday present, to myself (with possible contribution from SWMBO & daughter)

I'm considering keeping the price down for them, by altering the specification/frame, as I'd priced the HF83, with Dura-Ace componentry & Dura-Ace (C24) wheels, to about £2,800

Thus I'm considering (with -mechanical- Ultegra, Ritchey stem/bars/seat-pin, (1990 pattern 'Flite Saddle', Ultegra wheels)

Grand Fondo; http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/bbd/r...do?part=BB15RIBGRFONDO&sub=conf_BB_ALL&bike=1

Or....
Do I upgrade my existing Ribble 'winter' (the blue aluminium frame) to the Sportive 365, with 105 groupset, as I spend so much time on that bike (& having seen a couple regret not buying one initially)

Ribble do some nice rides, I looked at them when I wanted a cyclocross/year round all terrain bike but unfortunately they don't do one. At there prices its a real shame as it may have kept me cycling

Sportive ?
Having decided to give up on getting another ride I'm missing my bike and pining for another, are you going to use it all year round ?

No It won't, as I've got one of their (7005 aluminium) winter-bikes, that acts as a year-round commuter (when I'm not running to work)

I did consider upgrading it, & buying a Sportive 365, or the frame/forks & the necessary items at least, then transferring all my '7005' componants over to it

Which did get? I've got a grand fondo with ultegra and I love it.

I looked at the 'GF', what do you think to it, so I can decide if I've made the right choice

Its a great bike, its definitely a sportive bike and built for the long ride comfort.
I have my stem slammed as they say:rolleyes: and I still feel comfortable on 60,70 and 80 mile rides..

It feels light and quick to me after riding a alloy Scott for 12 years, I can't really compare the GF like for like,
