Interesting. I don't know Leeds at all but Maps tells me this is Pudsey, so I'm guessing it will be similar to the Preston store - a huge warehouse with a minimal showroom and sales desk in the lobby.

@Globalti not quite Trinity is in the centre of leeds, your right Preston did use to be like that but has been changed not too long ago.
It's now more like the one in Birmingham. So this one will be along the same lines as the current format.

Good morning,

I have been to the Birmingham showroom and it is that, a showroom with a bike sizing rig.

When I went they had one example of each bike, the trouble with that is that Ribble offer a number of different frame designs so you can't try the bike you want in various sizes.

I can see why Ribble do this, but I find it a shame that it is not a shop, even one with many items as "Not in stock, delivered to store only".

Although I live 30 miles away going to the shop would be a good excuse for a pub crawl as it is only 30 minutes by train.

Good morning,

Boy, sure wish we had Ribble stores here in the US. I have gotten some great deals on the net. Much better deals than we have here.

Ribble was bought by a private equity firm in 2015 and over the last few years has changed a lot in my opinion.

It still offers excellent value for money bikes, but is getting closer in price to the major brands. They seem to have better stock control systems as well so there are fewer end of range clearance items at ridiculously cheap prices. :-(

I am thinking about a bike that will take a rack for light touring and was looking at this

https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-endurance-al/

you get Tiagra and Mavic Aksiums for 800 UK Pounds, my local shop has Specialized (Allez Sport) and Trek (Al 3) and for a similar price and you get Sora and own brand wheels.

While the Ribble offer is better, if you value buying locally then buying Ribble is no longer a total "No Brainner".

Also Ribble seem to be shrinking the options on the Bike Builder, the bike linked to above is only offered with Tiagra or 105 groupsets, no Campag or SRAM option, although a Campag option is offered outside of Bike Builder.

Ribble is almost certainly a better business now, but perhaps less customer friendly. :-)

In the UK there is also Genesis https://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/ I know nothing about their US presence :-), but they are competitive with Ribble.

There is also a French sports chain, https://www.decathlon.co.uk Decathlon which possibly offer better value for money.

Buy the way https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-525-reynolds-audax-winter-frameset/ 525 Frame and Carbon Forks in 44cm and 52cm for £215.

Thanks! I have noticed Ribble's selection has gotten smaller. Thankfully I haven't needed to replace any components lately. Last time I bought a set of hubs to build some wheels, it was a front and rear Ultegra hubset (10 speed) for #124 delivered here to the US.

Heck, to get a REAR HUB only at a local shop would have been $150......rear only.

Good morning,

No Decathlon doesn't offer value for money, it offers remarkably cheap but unfortunately not very durable.

I know that Decathlon offer some very cheap bikes with components of unknown origin. :-)

Certainly for road bikes once you get to the Ribble price range, which now starts at around £799 (excluding clearance stuff) you are into 105/Ultegra groupsets and Mavic wheels at Decathlon.

No store yet, the previous pop up shop is closing down today ready for Ribble to move in. It’s opposite Nationwide Bank and near Starbucks.

You're not kidding there. A few years ago you could get everything you'd possibly need from Ribble, now they seem to have hardly anything. And not just groupsets but all the little bits and pieces you might want.

"Bought by a US private equity firm" says it all.
