All very wise, except this. Only his wife knows this. He is very like to be wrong if he thinks he knows that his wife still wants him.

You are right. But I think he may understand what I mean.

definitely not of your sons lifetime - seems to me that you aint cut out for fatherhood if you think leaving him behind for goodness knows how long is a good idea, maybe proving to your ex wife that you can be there and cope might be a start.

grow up for the sake of your boy.

So you have some money that your father left you, my advice is to spend it well before your ex-wife gets her hands on it, as the law stands she is in titled to half, if that's want you want so be it.
I've been there and seen the film, there are no happy ending, trust me I do know what I'm talking about.

First time poster, thread created in the early hours of the morning giving a ridiculously unlikely scenario with no follow up post. As I said earlier, it's boll....
If he is in the USA then it was not in the early hours there when he posted.

As for no follow up - we have probably scared him off!

I don't think the proposed ride across America is a good idea either. Well, it might be in better circumstances, but not in this situation. It would be sending the message "Yes, you are right, I have lost touch with reality and am indulging in all kinds of wacky behaviour" rather than "See, I am a hero and you can't live without me"!

Mrs. 66 wants me to do one.

Can I join the ride?

My dad left nothing when he popped his clogs, so you'll be "in the chair" all the way through the ride, but I'll give you a push up the hills now and then.

I think he is not coming back to say thanks to any of our answers so I am saving my opinion..

Sorry dude... This is a cycling forum that is not going to give you support of any kind in your quest.

If after all you still decide to go and do this I wish you the best of luck... Saving your marriage first, having a nice relation with your son and finally cycling.. (priorities)

If she's got full custody, it may be more than half she's entitled to - no idea of the jurisdiction the OP is in. And if she's like most single mothers, she won't be spending it on herself.

*best Jeremy Kyle voice* "So you split up with your partner after bringing a child into this world, and what do you do to help the situation? That's right, you bugger off on a 2 year bike ride! No I'm talking, not you, it says the Jeremy Kyle show..."
