On Clapham road between stockwell and clapham north on south bound carriage.

Motocycle under a HSS flat bed van.
looks like motocyclist was going along the bus lane and the HSS was turning into a side road through traffic, although this can't be confirmed.
Police and ambulance in attendance.

Although we are a cycling forum, i feel that motorcyclists are just as vulnerable as us and it de-severs a mention.

I came through the aftermath of this collison. The position of the bike and the van suggested the van was turning across Clapham Rd into Lingham St. I hope the rider is OK - the bike looked pretty smashed up.

Hope the rider is ok.

IF the rider was in the bus lane then this is one of the reasons why motorcycles shouldn't be allowed in them.

They're being used as fast undertaking lanes and fast moving motorbikes/scooters are tricky to see when other motorists are letting cars through the jam to turn into side streets etc. Motorbikes ought to be looking out for these manoeuvres and adjusting their speed accordingly. Unfortunately many of the motorbikes I see down these red route bus lanes are just riding stupidly fast giving themselves no reaction time should something happen. The turning cars are looking for big red buses not fast motorbikes and often not cyclists either but at least we're going slower and I personally look out for cars turning through gaps in the traffic.

Maybe the rider was riding responsibily but he above is often true.
