I find British weather to be so interesting. Not very cold but by our standards in the high western deserts of the Rocky Mtn states, very wet. Today I was riding in 23 degrees F and was pretty much comfortable. It was dry day under a brilliantly blue sky and the sparse snow left in the shade was too cold to melt, so dry also. How you stay warm and dry and keep your chains, rims, rings and sprockets from wearing out early I can only guess.

My best summer bike never gets ridden on wet roads and certainly never in the winter as there can be salt even on dry roads. It doesn't matter how carefully you wash it, it will deteriorate.
What do you do if it rains during a ride in the summer?.

Regarding salt my summer bike is probably better placed to deal with it as it's materials are more resistant to corrosion. The main reason I ride my winter bike more during the wetter months is that it has full mudguards and tends to have wet weather tyres fitted year round. In fact it's not so much a winter bike as a wet weather bike.
