Just sitting here having a wee drink and chatting away.

I commented on how the 3 girls seemed to have came back from the Frasers sale yesterday with an acceptable amount of stuff. I even got a shirt out of it.

Got on to talking about shoes and women in particular. And woman in particular who are obsessed with buying shoes. Now one of my guests is a psychologist and she insists that woman who are obsessed with shoes are also obsessed by their weight and it's a mental thing as while their bodies will change regarding putting on weight and clothes not fitting them, they buy shoes as their feet are a constant and don't change at all.

I mentioned that mrs Greedo is not shy of the shoe stores but never goes on about her weight or dieting. She reckons this is different as she just has an income that will allow her buy shoes she likes but if she didn't she wouldn't just buy shoes for the sake of it.

then thinking about it i have worked with 3 woman in the past who have all been always on diets, moaning about food and calories in everything someone has and they always seemed to be wearing and buying different shoes!!! to the extent they would be skint.

She may have a point!!!!

Never understood the obsession with shoes, clothes or loosing weight. I'm not a girly girl and never have been. I hated having to spend £50 on a pair of shoes for a job interview, they are what is know as court shoes, I believe.

I love my food, my weight stays at a constant 10 stone. No point worrying what you eat if it makes you miserable.

I think women buy shoes for lots of reasons. Weight is probably one. However, I doubt its the main reason by a long shot!

A weight obsession may make some women buy lots of shoes, but buying lots of shoes doesnt mean a woman has a weight obsession!

A weight obsession would IMO mean that person was obsessed with their appearance, and with keeping up with fashion. They might also be easily led by the likes of Mrs Beckham, in "needing" the latest fashion in shoes.

Once they see the shoes in the shop, they try them on, but never mind that they do not fit properly, they might buy the aforementioned shoes regardless. So begins a never-ending search for the shoe with the four inch heel that is also comfortable.

I cannot comprehend women who wish to always wear shoes that hamper their ability to walk properly and/or reasonably comfortably for a distance of more than three yards.

Note that I refer in particular to a distance of three yards, that being the approximate distance from the open door of the car, to the reserved table in the most fashionable restaurant. This restaurant will pander to their whims of their diet, ie no dairy, no wheat and no protein.

Yes, and the shoes which cost so much, mean that there is no money left over to buy a warm coat for the winter.

Hear, hear, although I don't have your luck with the 10 stone thing, and have to watch my food intake a bit - although I just try to limit my portions, rather than give up anything particular.

I'm going to hit the sales tomorrow, hoping to find a Rohan waterproof coat cheap, and maybe some shoes - trainer/walking boot types, at no more than £20 if I can help it.
