That'll cut them down to size.

A period where they’ll take stock(s)

What about the damages, that was estimated at north of half a million plus there is the loss of tourism to the area thousands of people used to visit/photograph the iconic tree.
The prison sentence does not repair the wall or replace the tree and as for 4 years and 3 months they'll probably be out in 2 years and probably serve that in an 'open' prison (cat 'D') for this act of wanton destruction.

They'll be skint. They're both complete scroats. There's no money to go after.

And the word says more people are going to see the stump than ever went to see the tree, so their action is net positive for the local area!

This is no spoiler, but there's a really cool shot of the tree in 28 Years Later, which can't have been filmed long before it was felled and probably ties the film to the area more than anything else.

I wonder if that might be it's last mainstream appearance? It would be oddly fitting if it is.

Afraid nothing can beat its appearance in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, where Hadrians Wall appears to be located on the southern coast lol.

I'm planning a trip up there again this summer, I visited in 2022 and there are a few things I spotted I'd like to see, plus it's close to Kielder Water which I failed to cycle around in one go last time and want another go.

Love that film, and you're not wrong. At least Years is geographically accurate!
