RLJ - I have come full circle

Best alternative is not to go for zebra but ped crossing that changes to amber flashing during off peak hours, or only goes from green to amber flash to cater for when peds press and cross when road is clear.
Just a thought - better still to have pedestrian crossings (and traffic lights!) default to red for traffic on the road? The wee "green man" shows until a vehicle/bike comes along? Make the cars/trucks/bikes wait for the software to create a space for them?

I shall now consign myself to one of the very furthest and deepest levels of Hell, there to be roasted for all eternity.

But - you know it makes sense!

It did sound plausible when I first read it... but, I don't think it'd help the flow of traffic really (and it sounds expensive!).

I was thinking of central Leeds  .

Traffic flow? A glacier in deepest Antarctica flows faster!

Expensive? A software tweak - a couple of guys going round with a USB stick (I suspect).

Assuming they have vehicle sensors fitted, and that vehicle sensors can detect at a certain range so that vehicles dont have to come to a near stop everytime?

The most annoying abuse of an RLJ cyclist

A friend of mine always RLJs. It's irritating as we sometimes are cycling the same way. I always catch him up, if we are headed to the pub he cuts along a pavement, I go around the road and deliberately bust a gut round the block so that I can make up the time quick and be pedalling leisurely as the pub comes into view and I am there first

Coming up to a light, I stopped, he sailed through as usual. Car is behind me and stops as one would expect. Driver beeps and shouts at ME "Oi, that's a red light you wucking fanker".

Proof that RLJers do indeed result in the rest of us getting the aggro.

I also don't understand my mate's logic, he is happy to sail through a junction when he can't see all entrances, but he daren't go on the roundabout because "it's dangerous". Which again means that by the time he's faffed about in underpasses, I am dawdling waiting for him to catch up.

Every time someone jumps a red light licensing, registration, MOT tests, compulsory insurance and high visibility tabards with a number on come just a little bit closer.

Surely swearing at strangers is just as illegal as jumping red lights?

Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986:
"A person is guilty of an offence if he uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour,.."

Or is that law somehow ok to ignore? Because so many people do it perhaps?
Ah, but a red light is always red, whereas an insult is in the eyes of the beholder. I would be insulted if someone told me I looked like a Jedward fan. It hasn't happened yet but when it does I'll be taking the video straight to the police.

or to borrow a meme

Every time someone jumps a red light God kills a kitten

So don't do it!

I try not to RLJ but I must admit to getting frustrated by the light sequencing on CS3, which seems to have cyclists waiting an inordinate amount of time while they let all the cars through. There are a couple of sets on there that can have you waiting a rare old time

Im frustrated with the light sequencing on the CS2,it has not really been thought about.
