...into passing car for you or passing pedestrian for the other cyclist. Close passes are never wise no matter what your trasnport.
Me I care about and tend to ensure there isn't a passing car.

On Shoreditch High Street I slowed for a lady waiting to cross the zebra, she stepped out, a cyclist screamed past and the lady jumped with fright. I let her cross and set off at a sprint to catch him. "You scared that lady!" I said.

"I know!

he said

"No brakes!"

Yep, I tell them, used to do it all the time in Cambridge, quite happy for them to have a go but they never do for some reason. Rutland only has a couple of traffic lights in the whole county so I don't get to do it any more except when the nobbers come through the town on the annual sportive.

I usually call out 'stop at red' only had one guy moan about it. Actually he moaned a lot, so much so that he remembered me the next time I called it out to him a few days.
Started saying it was none of the business, just ignored him after that, not letting him distract me from my cycling.

Not really worth bothering about. Eventually he will run out of luck. At that point, I would me more concerned for the driver of the vehicle that hits him. Although, they should looking for the un-expected, but we can all be caught out by RLJs.
.

A few nights ago i was at this junction in wimbledon waiting to cross - it was dark!
wimbledon crossing.JPG

Cars stopped for the red light, i was about to cross.

Cyclist, no lights, dressed in black, riding one handed and texting rides up the inside of the cars and across the crossing, I stop the let him pass

He rides, still texting, across the two lanes of traffic joining from the right on a green light. both lanes of traffic stop as he goes directly across the road and onto the pavement where the white van is.

Red light jumpers in many cases get away with it, like this guy did, not because RLJ'ing is not really dangerous, but because pedestrians have learnt to not trust cyclists to stop even after the cars have stopped, and the vast majority of drivers are in truth careful, considerate and on the look out for hazards.

If he had been hit by one of the cars i would immediately have offered to be a witness for the driver.

I was shaking my head this morning at a few cyclists who'd RLJ'd, when the guy in the car next to me wound his window down and said 'Nice to see some of you know the rules!'

Reminds me of the old saying..."If you play by the rules you end up playing with yourself."

The best thing is just to shake your head and give a sarcastic clap.

That way (hopefully) the other drivers see that not all cyclists are RLJ and theres not much chance of retaliation by there RLJ themselves.

I'm no brawler, so wouldn't want to get into any "discussion/" with an RLJ'er, but I usual shake my head and ring the bell. RLJ'ers have looked back knowing it was meant for them, but I've not had to make a quick getaway thus far.

Ring on Red I say!

On one of my early commutes I some times get stopped at this perticular set of lights, and twice at the same set of lights be goes past when there red, I wait they turn green and with in 2 minutes I pass him.

I don't say anything I just get a warm fuzzy feeling when I pass him knowing it didn't get him very far

I used to say red means stop to them tbh I have stopped, you cannot educate pork. I usually find its chavs on BSO, Middle aged people on battered bikes or just nobbers.
