Many thanks in getting back to me I knew someone would know I see by the decathlon shop site that doesn't seem to to go any bigger than 57cm So I will just drop them an email I think Cheers !

If in doubt measure the seat tube length and the top tube length on your current bike and compare it to the sizes of the bike you are getting.

If you put up whereabouts you live I am sure there will be someone on here with a Triban 3 for you to look at, if you are really lucky they may have a 57

Ah I never thought of that "it must be my age" I will measure the upright seat tube? and the top tube= the cross bar? I presume,.then will have a much better idea. Though I suppose does having dropped bars mean you'ed need more room for your knees perhaps.??
O.K I live in Weston Super Mare (well some one has to!)

I just feel a little 'unstable' really, I'm just wondering if this will improve over time as I (hopefully) get more confident with the thin tyres and drop bars? I can't really have a proper ride on it at the moment though due to the atrocious weather

Can't or won't. Think very carefully about that one

In Relation to Bike sizing i.e Road bikes I went here and found a most comprehensive web page dealing not only with road bikes but mountain and other types too.http://www.ebicycles.com/article/bicycle-frame-size-charts.html I hope this is not a breech of the forums rules ( I had quick look) the posting of links to other sites if so please accept my apology. So it seems now that I need a 60cm frame and a 175 sized crank of which I never even thought about just shows you how much I know!

That comes up with a 57 frame for me and I am 6ft 2 and a 33" inside leg

How tall is he?

He's 6 foot exactly with either a 34" or 35" inside leg (not trouser length) - can't quite remember and he's not here to measure!
He looked at the 57cm and it was too small, so tried the 61cm and was instantly fine with it. Unlike me, he has not needed to change anything on the bike. I needed a different stem and narrower bars. The above give puts him on a 61cm with a 175mm crank arm length. Incidentally it gave a 54cm with 170mm for me so on the road bike side of life seems reasonably accurate.

Cheers, fella at work is bringing in his Specialized 56cm in tomorrow for me to have a quick ride on, I know it is going to be small, but I want to see how small

So did I do good by finding the site I mentioned? It seems to be quite good as far as it can be I suppose, but perhaps there’s a difference in all of us re back, arm (some thing I’d not thought of) and leg length as I've been to other forums now and seen such a variety of views that people have! That’s why many people prefer to buy from a local shop and get fitted for the right size as I did with my Hybrid. But as cash flow and other commitments begin to crowd the horizon, I find I must take the plunge online armed with the information to hand.

Yeah, the only thing is that I have to get used to going from an 'upright' position on hybrids to the body position on a road bike. Like others have said, it's just a matter of time

I couldn't get used to mine at first - when the seat height was right for my outstretched leg, the bars felt much too low. i got one of those adjustable stems and put it to the maximum height and now it's really comfy. It also felt much too twitchy but now feels normal.

It's confused me even more. I am going to sit on a couple of bikes at the LBS at the weekend I think.

Hey Supersuperleeds. Before you go and sit on any bikes read this through http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/fitting.htm Which I just found very informative as it does guide you though the self help side of fitting your self up (for a bike I mean) but then the internet is a mine of information some good and some totally silly, as you well know. I know I should be doing something far more constructive with my afternoon but at the moment I can't think what as its just started chucking it down.
