I really enjoy chillaxing whilst I'm watching people like Andy from BikeIt UK (YouTube) restoring some of those old racers, he always does such an amazing job and he turns out some good quality vids. Anyhow, can anyone recommend any other youtubers that have similar vids. I can't get enough of watching these old bikes being brought back to life.
Cheers..

Not yet but I'm thinking about it, its not that I particularly want to restore and sell bikes but I like the idea of restoring and riding something that I have put my time and effort into, there's really something quite appealing about bringing these old bikes back to life and to be honest they just look so much better than all this modern carbon fibre stuff, that's probably just my age though.

I agree about the look, but the ride not so much. You should give one a go if you have the time.

Well, I'm no spring chicken '54 years young' so many of the bikes that I used to ride in my youth were the old racers from the 70's and 80's which is probably why they hold a special place for me. They were never very comfortable and to be honest I nearly always arrived home covered in chain oil but I loved riding them, even when the brakes or lack of them caused me some scary moments. I like the idea that you can pick up a tired looking 1980's racer for a few quid and with a little effort and know how you can return them to their former glory, there's something Zen like about it. I'm thinking that I should give this restoration thing a go, if nothing else it gives me more reasons to disappear down to the workshop and that's always good.

I'm only slightly younger at 47, so I remember all too well some of the nice machines going around in the 80's. I haven't really got the technical know-how or experience to tackle something like this, but it would be good to read about your attempts. Good luck and keep us posted.

Nice.

Have you a small penchant for front entrances and gates?

Seriously nice collection though. Did you restore them all yourself?

No restorations all bought as pictured and ridden , some might have needed some basic pre ride work , ie new tyres ,cables and some fresh grease

All rebuilt from the frame up, there are a couple of others but I've not got round to pointing a camera at them yet.
