With the Govt. hell bent on getting us all to convert to EVs, Wonder how they're going to make up the shortfall in income; currently around £24 billion annually, when far fewer folk will buying road fuel - ?
Or haven't they though of that one - ?
Maybe hammer HGVs until someone develops one with a big enough battery - ?

Aren't they bringing in 'tax' for leccy vehicles in 2025?

Can't see it being much of an issue as if they are ever faced with any kind of predicted shortfall, they will just tweak whatever tax they think they can get away with to make up the difference.

It was interesting listening to the chancellor this morning as he tried to announce some good news without actually promising anything.

He's quite right of course, it all depends on growth.

Big jump for EV owners next year? £nil to £600 if costs over £40k, which is probably quite a lot of them.

It's just beyond belief that the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who is supposed to be a whiz at financial planning , doesn't appear to have a clue about making up shortfalls when such things a 'zero VED for EVs' and more EVs means less road fuel used.
Don't get me started - !
