Thanks for all the info .Just back from two weeks holiday and enjoyed the riding . Did quite a bit of road riding early to miss the traffic did the coast to coast Deveron to Portreath and the camel trail as part of Padstow to Rock using the foot ferry which was a nice ride @Ian H you were right about the gravel had a moment on a descent went wide on a corner hit gravel and scared the life out of me but stayed on thankfully . @totallyfixed the nicest ride was Portreath to godrievy point along the coast road just lovely and a nice cafe at godrievy. Oh and yes it was HILLY but made up everything thanks to the hybrids triple gearing the smallest ring on the front has never had so much use

I WAS due to take my bike to the St. Ives area but circumstances meant I went "sans bike"........................and was I glad:eek:.
As stated by others.........country lanes are so narrow & winding and the hedges mean you dont know what you are going to meet.
And those hills:sweat:. I am reasonably fit (I do up to 50 miles) but I would not like to tackle those hills on every single ride.

I've always lived in Cornwall, this being the reason for my forum name, I can't find any routes over 8 miles without at least two fairly serious hills and it's constantly up and down, I love Cornwall just wish it was a little bit flatter ( or I was a bit fitter wich I am working on ) glad you enjoyed your holiday anyway

Hills are what makes it interesting! lol. Glad the OP had a good time down here, the narrow country lanes you just get used to- like you northern folk and your city riding!
