At long last I have striped the calipers fitted new pads , re routed the toe straps and fitted a more appropriate brooks saddle .

I even managed a 1.5 mile test ride just need to swap the stem over for a longer one .

Had confirmation today , not that i really needed it that this is a Shirley model

" Looking at the pictures your Rotrax looks to be a 'Shirley' model but to be sure I would need to see close up pics of the head lugs. We made this one in 1955 around the first couple of months, during this period we were making over 2000 per/year "

First 20 mile ride this morning and all went well and felt really comfortable .

Yes ! Definitely keep the sheep . They will come in handy mowing the lawn .
