At long last I have striped the calipers fitted new pads , re routed the toe straps and fitted a more appropriate brooks saddle .

I even managed a 1.5 mile test ride just need to swap the stem over for a longer one .

Another 5 miles evaluation miles this morning .

And apart from a noisy freewheel it's very nice.

Looking great. I remember all the bikes lined up in the shop in Shirley Southampton. Of course then I didn't appreciate them for what they were!

On the miles i have done so far ie 8 then more than likely yes , i just need to try and fine tune my position ie swap stem and lift saddle then i can do a couple of further rides to make sure its comfy enough

A bit more progress this morning ie 9 miles and 3 different saddle heights and then some playing with stem's .

Ended up with this 105 mm nos 3t Status one which was being kept for another project , slightly more modern than I would have liked .

Had confirmation today , not that i really needed it that this is a Shirley model

" Looking at the pictures your Rotrax looks to be a 'Shirley' model but to be sure I would need to see close up pics of the head lugs. We made this one in 1955 around the first couple of months, during this period we were making over 2000 per/year "

Yes ! Definitely keep the sheep . They will come in handy mowing the lawn .
