Don't listen to us non-locals, Sara, it's customary for residents of other East Midlands cities like Nottingham, Derby and, um, Oakham to slag off each other's homes.
Despite being relatively local, I've not been to Leicester at all often; I can count the number of visits on my remaining digits.
Apart from taking my late mother to Glenfield to have her pacemaker fitted/checked, I've only really been to the city centre.
Outlying areas like Beaumont Leys are terror incognita to me.

My OH used to work at Glenfield, and was also a patient at Leicester Royal at one unhappy point in our lives! I've been there on courses occasionally or when doing patient transfers, so that's the sum of my knowledge about Leicester!
We're now not going this weekend, as apparently there's a Sheffield Wednesday match that he MUST go to with his dad, so we'll be going during half term instead. Gives me a chance to weigh up the odds of Bus v Bike!

I'd definitely do the bike, you would have to walk half the route to get to the correct end of town for a bus anyway

The other option is to get a train to South Wigston station and do a 9 mile ride to the space centre that apart from a couple of side roads would all be tarmac cycle paths. Though to be honest I would stick with the main station and just ride through the city centre, you are talking a mile of roads with traffic that most of it has decently marked out cycle lanes on

Leicester really is not any more dangerous than anywhere else. In fact quite a lot less dangerous than some places as criminals are so poor they can not afford anything decent in the way of weaponry. A blunt stick is about the most anyone can run to and even then it's on a time share basis.

We did! But we caught the bus as we took a little friend with us. Brilliant place. I absolutely loved the Planetarium.
It is good, did you go on the simulator?

Last time we went we took my oldest brother and his wife. Both in their 60s but they insisted on having a go on everything, the disapproving looks as we took turns on the lunar gravity slide were brilliant.

We did indeed go on the simulator! The only thing that bamboozled me was a lack of anywhere to sit and eat your pack up! Come lunchtime the floor was strewn with folk having a picnic!
