If you're that bored at work Ian you could test what random things they will deliver to you with an address on.
I'm thinking a coconut, toast, a piece of wood etc.

My postie if I haven't answered the door within one nanosecond then he's already filling out the pink slip.

Bit difficult to get my clothes on that fast sometimes but I suppose I should be thankful.

Our postie is very nice. He even signs for parcels for us then chucks them in the house (probably aiming for the dog) when we're not in. We know his mum.

Somebody should invent a large post box which can accept parcels like a an old-fashioned bank deposit box.

Oh, I just did!

There was one on Dragon's Den earlier in the year, I don't think it got any backing, but it is a good idea.
Incidentally, your postie could get disciplined or even sacked for leaving parcels
in an unsecure location.

Enjoy your postie while you can. It is only a matter of time before door to door deliverys are stopped for flats and in rural areas You will then have a block of personal boxes at certain points and you will have to empty them yourself or pay extra for large items to be delivered. This idea was put forward over thirty years ago but stopped by the Union and government but with the present RM management and government it is only a matter of time before it is brought in.

I had a parcel being delivered from Germany via DHL, I followed it on tracking and made sure I was in all day as it was shown as leaving the Reading depot at just before 7 in the morning. Late in the day a further tracking check informed me that the package was undeliverable due to an incomplete address. So I contacted DHL to find out what to do, I gave the tracking No and they rattled off my name and address back to me. As you can imagine this puzzled me, turns out the package had name, house No and postcode but not street name. The DHL office could identify via their software but this wasn't available to the delivery driver, hence package returning to depot. I had to go and collect at the depot the next day, less than impressed with service.

I think its about time that Royal Mail was reduced in size... Daily deliveries aren't really needed. 95% of the mail that our postie delivers is junk, not even addressed to anyone. Having mail delivered to a local collection centre or delivering to a property once a week would be fine for most people.

My gripe with Royal mail is the silly price system.

Post a 90g item that is thinner than 5mm and it is 41p
Post a 90g item that is thicker than 5mm but thinner than 25mm and it is 66p
If it is then thicker than 25mm it is £1.39

This could be exactly the same bits of paper folded differently. They really do not deserve business with such a silly price policy bases on weight and dimension with one thing costing over three times the price for being the wrong shape.

Whilst I agree the sizing in proportion pricing is confusing, it makes sense in that they are trying to automate as much mail as possible, good for me  I get to fix break things

You see that whilst we have a large flat sorting machines located in various areas of the country they can sort larger items but if its not machinable then it goes manual, hence costs alot more to process. Also we are required now by the Department of transport ( I think ) that all items thicker than 6mm must be put through an airport scanner at our mail centres before they are flown anywhere ( if destination requires it ). The pricing before did not really reflect the true costs, however the current pricing strategy possibly needs looked at again. But hey no need to worry once the business is privatised, I mean it will obviously be cheaper right?

I seems to be very rare that I get mail. Well mail addressed to me that is, I get everybody elses around me which i then go out and re-post to the correct houses. God knows where my mail is going!

Have made several complaints all to no avail.
