I work for a Scottish firm (not sure if it's the same for all Scottish firms btw) and we were told fairly early on that there is no public holiday for us, so it's work as normal - that's the usual attend and skive then .

On Chuck and Di's wedding day I went with my then gf to an outdoor swimming pool in nearby town... we had the place to ourselves!!! (apart from the lifeguards)

Birmingham City Council had received nine requests to hold street parties last I saw. In a city of over a million people it sums up the appetite for it nicely.

it might be to do with councils making people jump through stupid hoops , that has led to lots going f**k it we won't bother.


i will be painting or wallpapering or laying laminate depending on how this weeks evenings pan out. might have a few beers in the afternoon and let SWMBO cremate some chicken on the BBQ ( women just can't BBQ , why is that ??)

Miooowww... I must be an exception then because I do a cracking BBQ. Minted lamb chops, bbq loin steaks, steak, chicken/pepper/pineapple skewers in a honey and mustard glaze and home made burgers - just some of the items on the menu last Sunday. All cooked to perfection.
